The Comprehensive Upper GI Endoscopy Training Program, held on 20th December 2024 at IRCAD India, Indore, was a highly engaging and hands-on educational experience for surgeons and gastroenterologists. The program began with demonstrations and equipment orientation sessions, covering essential aspects such as patient preparation, scope insertion and navigation through the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum, biopsy techniques, equipment handling, and sterilization protocols. This was followed by a series of focused lectures on the fundamentals and anatomy of upper GI endoscopy, identification of common pathologies, safe biopsy practices, and troubleshooting techniques. In the afternoon, participants took part in intensive hands-on training in the animal lab, practicing scope manipulation, navigation through challenging anatomy, retrieval of foreign bodies, simulated biopsies, and basic therapeutic techniques like hemostasis using clips and sprays. The course provided a perfect balance of theory, demonstration, and real-time practice, offering participants an exceptional opportunity to refine their endoscopic skills under expert supervision.
