IRCAD India successfully conducted its Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery Course, a three-day intensive training program designed for practicing and general surgeons aiming to advance their expertise in bariatric and metabolic surgery.
Held from 12–14 March 2026 at IRCAD India, Indore, the course featured structured academic sessions, virtual live surgical case discussions, and hands-on live tissue training on key bariatric procedures including Sleeve Gastrectomy, One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB), and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RYGB).
Under the academic leadership of Dr. Mohit Bhandari and a distinguished faculty panel, participants explored critical aspects of bariatric surgery such as operative strategies, complication prevention and management, patient selection, and long-term outcomes.
The program also emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to obesity management, with focused sessions on bariatric nutrition, physiotherapy, and anaesthesia risk stratification.
With limited surgeons, the course ensured a focused learning environment, meaningful faculty interaction, and extensive practical exposure. The program concluded with certificate distribution, marking the successful completion of a highly enriching academic experience for surgeons from different regions.
